Hi, it's marketing Monday, and today I want to share with you a critical tip for boosting your sales revenue without spending any money getting more customers through your door.
It's called upselling. I'm sure you've heard of it, it's when you're in the middle of selling or at the end of selling a product to a customer, and you upsell and offer an additional product or service to a customer to get them to buy another product or service from you.
This is a really important part of your marketing and sales cycle because the best time to sell more to your customer is when they're engaging and enjoying the experience of buying something from you, right now. Once a person has bought from you, and left your store, or moved on from your website, it's very difficult to get them back again to buy that next product.
So, it's critical to ensure that you're always thinking about what you could upsell from another product. And, its especially important if you own a retail store, to ensure that your staff are confident and knowledgeable in order to upsell from products that they're already selling.
A classic example of upselling is McDonald's. McDonald's teach their staff to always upsell to every customer at their counter. For example, if you order a combo, they'll ask if you'd like to supersize it.
Take a look at your sales cycle. Are you maximizing your upsells through every customer interaction?
