Now, the first thing to know is that if you are talking to a customer that has a need for the product or service you’re selling, you’re in a good place. The next problem to overcome is the way you think about what you’re doing and getting comfortable with actually selling.
Now, what we need to do is reframe in your mind the way you think about yourself. So I want you to not think about what you’re doing as “selling”, I want you to think about it as simply talking to someone about something you know.
I’ll say that again, selling is simply talking to someone about something you know.
If you’re pitching a product or service to someone who needs what you’re offering, then all you really need to do is talk to them about what your product or service can help them with. And in doing that, by sharing your knowledge and adding value to your customer’s life through the conversation, they’ll resonate with you, they’ll want to do business with you, they’ll want to buy from you and, most importantly, if you keep on adding value in the relationship, they will become a loyal customer and advocate of everything that you do.
So, it’s not selling, it’s knowledge sharing, it’s adding value, it’s simply talking to someone about something you know.
